India-Mumbai
A seven to eight layer human pyramid collapses while attempting to break the dahi handi. “The Govindas” (Troupes of Lord Krishna) forming a human pyramid to break the handi which is suspended at a height of 20 to 40 feet. More than 400 organisations set up dahi handis all over the city.

Dahi Handi is a popular ceremony held on the second day of Janmashthami, the festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna. The word ‘dahi’ means ‘curd,’ while ‘handi’ means pot. These words refer to the pot of curd, which is to be claimed as a prize during this special ceremony.

This ceremony actually reenacts the childhood pranks of Lord Krishna, who had a special affinity towards milk and butter. The lord along with his friends used to steal milk and butter from the houses in their village. Usually these food items would be hung from the roof beams to keep them out of reach. The Lord along with his friends used to form a human pyramid and reach the food items and steal them.

I stepped out of my house with elated steps, thinking about the beautiful moment I was just about to experience in another hour. My heart was beating fast and nerves were too warm to understand the busy traffic of the city. after a few minutes wait I got into an Autorickshaw ( a public means of transport a bike with three tyres) and headed my way to meet her, after an year of separation.
I rehearsed the moment of meeting her again and again in my mind but always thought that lets do it once more.

Oh I was so happy and joyful.

As we crossed one road after another and a street after another street we entered into a small lane. Slowly the city scape started to go out of my visions. The excitement of meeting my friend was replaced by a sudden moments of grief. I witnessed a surrounding so deserted and untouched that my joyfulness was morphed into senseless emotion.
As the auto zoomed passed these quarters I managed to take these 2 images but several other remained deep in my hearts.

I did meet her, but for some reason I was not with her. Since then I havent met her and dont think it will ever work out.

Rope Fishing ! in the Arabian Sea

5:13 AM / Posted by Unknown / comments (0)

Found this fisherman.....just his tight shorts and a rope......at the other end must be a net. He'd move from one end of the beach towards the other end...I followed him and after few attempts got a good burst of shots.. The tension in the rope was so strong...
Amazing , a new form of fishing for me !

serve somebody !, originally uploaded by Sayantan Bera.

You may be an ambassador to England or France,
You may like to gamble, you might like to dance,
You may be the heavyweight champion of the world,
You may be a socialite with a long string of pearls

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed
You're gonna have to serve somebody,
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.

I thought this cotton candy and bicycle looked so beautiful with the blue blue sky of Rajasthan.
