Shot from my Tanjore Trip. Found this group of people near the tree behind the Shrine of Karuvurar, in Bragatheeswarar (Peruvudaiyar) Temple, trying to spot something on it. They told me that they were trying to spot the lizards (Urosaurus ornatus aka Tree Lizards I guess - do correct me if I am wrong) on the tree. Local legend has it that if you pray/wish for something, come to the tree and spot one or more lizard(s) (maraballi in Tamil) your wish will be granted, on the other hand if your wish is unattainable it is believed that you will not see a lizard even if you stand on your head.
