This was taken during the Jallikattu event at Palamedu near Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
The way in which this man tries to tame the bull is perhaps the best way to do it. He is holding on to the bull's hump while wounding his legs around the front leg of the bull. This technique will be somewhat safe for him as well as helping him to win the contest. Hope this info helps someone who is thinking of taming a bull next time around.
